Britton has loved *little* things since she was a kid, and got back into making miniatures during lockdown in 2020. Confined to our apartment in Los Angeles, building miniature diorama kits became her stress-relieving creative outlet.
Her miniature-making hobby evolved into this new creation, so family and friends convinced her to open an Etsy shop. What the heck?, she thought, why not? She figured maybe she would sell a few, earn some money on the side while getting her masters degree. So Books By Britton was born.
Long story short, she was wrong in the best way. Sometime in October or November 2021, the business blew up. She enlisted Alison and Julie’s help to get everything done. We worked non-stop and somehow, amazingly, got all the orders shipped out on time for Christmas.
And that was just the beginning. They continued to help however they could remotely. Then, in 2023, our little team of three was finally all in the same place and we attacked the business like never before. We started attending book festivals and conventions as an exhibitor/vendor, expanded our product catalog, and somehow survived a third chaotic holiday rush.
Books By Britton had another incredible year in 2024. And when the three of us started planning for 2025, our conversation snowballed into talk about big plans and crazy ideas we’re hoping to bring to life. It was clearer than ever that “Books By Britton” just didn’t fit anymore.
It wasn’t just Books By Britton… it was Books By Britton and Alison and Julie. And we may make miniatures, but more than anything else, we’re passionate about stories.
Whether those stories are in the pages of books, flickering across a big or silver screen, within the lyrics of a song, performed on a stage, or passed down in whispered tales around campfires, the stories we love become part of us.
So here we are now as Storykeeper Studio.
Our Story
What’s In a Name
Of course our name was inspired by quotes from two of our favorite books…
"He can’t find the words, the story, the voice. Can’t figure out what he could possibly
add to so many shelves. Henry would rather be a storykeeper than a storyteller.”
—The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
"It is a sanctuary for storytellers and storykeepers and storylovers. They eat and sleep and dream surrounded by chronicles and histories and myths.”
—The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Britton
Hey, hi, hello! I’m Britton (pronounced like the country). I created Books By Britton after I got carried away with a pandemic hobby. One day while I was doom-scrolling, I saw a tweet from author Jenny Lawson about how she had made a miniature library diorama. I’ve always loved miniatures and I had plenty of time on my hands, so I bought and completed the same kit. Four kits, a failed experiment, and lots of trial and error later and I started selling miniature bookshelves. What started in Los Angeles, grew in Austin, Texas, and now I’m settled back in Cincinnati, Ohio. Never in a million years did I think this *little* hobby of mine would take off and become a flourishing business.
I love stories of all kinds. I’m a writer and screenwriter — I got my BA in journalism and my MFA in screenwriting. I’ve been an avid reader since I was a kid. I studied abroad in Luxembourg, and have traveled to over 20 different countries.
While I’m working on your orders, I’m either binging old seasons of Survivor or listening to Broadway musicals and being distracted by my two dogs, Indiana Jones (Indy) and Olive.

Alison
Alison, here! My story is similar to that of my older sister’s to the left (or above, for those reading on your phone). I got my BA in media and journalism, traveled Europe during a semester abroad, and lived in Los Angeles for four years before returning home to Cincinnati. And now making miniatures is my full-time job.
Someone once noted in a not-so-kind tone that I just follow in Britton footsteps. Well what’s so wrong with that, I thought. She leads a damn good path.
But this About Me is supposed to be about me… I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles like it’s a timed competition. I play tennis when work isn’t piling up, and cuddle with my dog even (especially?) when it is. I love Broadway musicals and rewatching the same TV shows, despite my growing TBW list that’s as long as my TBR.
For so long I thought I would be a storyteller; that I would be an author, a screenwriter, or a producer. And I haven’t ruled those out entirely. But for now, I’m so happy to be a storykeeper — to find little ways to honor the stories we love and share those with this wonderful bookish community.

Julie
Hi, I’m Julie — proud mom to the other two amazing women here at Storykeeper Studio. When I encouraged Britton to open an Etsy shop and give selling her minis a try, I never dreamed it would grow the way it has. It’s been so rewarding to share her creative genius with the world! I love, love, love creating minis with my girls. We each have things we do best and some things we’re not allowed to do at all… like cutting white book covers or just using scissors. The very best part is seeing the joy in someone’s eyes when they see these mini book creations for the first time!
I always have several shelves of books that I haven’t read yet, and often fall down the rabbit hole that is looking through the thousands of images in my Photos… my three kids over the years, the amazing trips I’ve been lucky enough to take, and all of my fur babies past and present.
I’ve been many things over the course of my life thus far and I imagine I’ll add to the list in the years to come. I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to make any dream a reality.
